Lost Valley

One of the blessings that living in Arkansas brings is the stunning natural beauty that is easily accessible. In just a few hours time I watched elk grazing in a field, swans gliding gracefully through a misty pond, a canopy of vivid and enchanting autumn foliage, mossy rock shelves, and a natural cave that Ansel Adams would have drooled over. Once you get though the cave, you find yourself in a valley looking up an imposing cliff. In wetter conditions a waterfall cascades from the top of these rocks and flows through the cave. On this day the waterfall was a trickle, which gave me more space to marvel at the cave. This place was so magical and enchanting, and I can't wait to experience the glory of it in all seasons. A beautiful and rugged paradise that soothes the soul and engages you to remind you what is truly real!  Lost Valley is located in Newton County Arkansas in the Buffalo River National Forest area. Be sure to stop by the General Store in Ponca, a charming mountain town,  for the tastiest trail mixes and drinks to sustain you on your hike.  To see more of the beauty of Arkansas, please visit my website at : www.MelanieMyhrePhotography.com
