Ok, so I've been a very bad blogger. I've only posted a few blogs since starting this in 2011, but I'm attempting to re-rehabilitate myself. You see, blogging doesn't come easy for me. I am fairly introverted by nature, often preferring the solitude of the woods, lakes, and mountains. My mind is constantly full of ideas and inspirations and I often get lost in them, but when a stranger asks "So what do you do?" I instantly freeze up and the words leave me stumbling awkwardly for something to say.
I am happy to say that is slowly changing. In the last couple of years, my artistic vision has driven me in new directions that have both challenged me and made me feel passionately, vibrantly alive. Working with live models and interacting with fashion designers and makeup artists to create something bigger than ourselves has been the most amazing experience. The level of camaraderie that comes with such experiences can be priceless as we laugh, dream, and create together. I even have an apprentice these days. Her name is Khalia, and she is 12 going on 20. She has been just a joy to work with! Through this transition, in staying true to my heart, I have chosen to keep my artistic and romantic sensibilities intact, giving my work it's own special flair. It remains fantastical, whimsical, and dreamy while incorporating the creations of fashion and jewelry designers. Today, when someone asks "What do you do?" I am often so excited by what I do, that I can't help but talk about it! This means you can look forward to more frequent blog posts, and I will still post pictures from my hikes in beautiful Arkansas from time to time, but the fantastical medley (composite) work has taken a back seat to creating these kinds of images in the real world. These days, I am photographing on location, creating, or setting up all the props and costuming you see in the photo, and then playing with color and texture. It is so much more richly rewarding for me, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Thanks for sticking with me!
