“Yearning To Fly”
This was a very impromptu and unplanned shoot. I noticed the delphiniums (one of my favorite flowers) blooming here so I planned to come back just before sunset to catch the golden backlights. I donned a white dress and set up my camera on the tripod. I was in full view of passing traffic on a busy roadway and half expected someone to stop to see what I was up to. There I was, this crazy lady with make-up on up to my eyebrows, in a white evening dress, hopping up and down in a stand of delphiniums, tossing my head around! It had to look funny from their end! The best part was when I jumped up and lost my balance coming down, and rolling onto my bum and my back, feet sticking up in the air! Yeah, that’s me falling in the second picture :) I giggled as I got up and resumed shooting as if no one was able to see me. Sometimes it’s good not to take yourself so seriously. For that brief time, I felt like a kid again. Later I spent two hours with hydrogen peroxide, q-tips, and soap getting all the dime-sized grass stains out of the dress. I got three shots from this session that I really liked. Completely worth it all if you ask me.
