Huntington Musuem Of Art TSAA Biennial Show Opening
By: Melanie Myhre Art
What a wonderful time we had at the opening reception for the Tri-State Arts Association Biennial! The Huntington Museum Of Art is hosting the show in the Switzer Gallery from now until June 21st. TSAA (Tri-State Arts Association) was founded in 1953 and promotes the work of artists living in KY,OH and WV
My acrylic painting, 'The Curious Crossing Into Elsewhere' was selected for display. The selection for the show was very competitive, with only 60 entries out of 156 being accepted for the show. The show is filled with exquisite art of many mediums, from oils and acrylics, to felt, mixed media, photography, glass, sculpture and more. If you are in the area, this is a show you don't want to miss!
There was a large crowd turnout for the entire 2 hours of the opening, and 4 tables of yummy food disappeared quickly. I was surprised with a visit from my friends, one of which brought me a lovely orchid! I also met up with some artist friends and got pictures with some of them. It was especially nice seeing Cecil Ybanez, who is an accomplished artist, CEF Fellow and Bloomfield Richwood gallery owner, and Gaelin Quest, who is an accomplished artist and gallery assistant at Tamarack WV. I truly enjoyed seeing some amazing art!
This exhibit is presented with support from The Isabelle Gwynn and Robert Daine Exhibition Endowment. It's also supported with financial assistance from The WV Department Of Tourism and the National Endowment For The Arts, with approval from the WV Commission On The Arts. I'd also like to express my thanks to all of the volunteers who helped put the show together. It wouldn't have been a success without you.
'The Curious Crossing Into Elsewhere' is an 8x10 original acrylic on gallery wrap canvas. The inspirations behind the painting merge several re-imagined memories from my experiences and include a nature path in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, a magical late spring morning when I walked in a forest where snow covered the leafy green trees and flowers, and loosely interpreted memories from reading Alice In Wonderland.
